Coda Music & Arts Trust
Supporting Coda’s Transformation into a Multidisciplinary Arts Organisation
Wayfinding Print

Overview
Over a three-month period, I led several marketing projects in collaboration with the Marketing Manager and Executive Team at Coda Music and Arts Trust. This was a crucial time for the organisation as it continued its expansion in 2024 following a merger with a local art therapy charity in 2023. The merger broadened Coda’s services beyond music into arts, crafts, and creative health, resulting in a significant brand refresh. My role focused on supporting the consistent implementation of the new brand identity across marketing materials and facilities, ensuring that both marketing and wayfinding strategies reflected Coda’s updated values and expanded offer.

Process
Supported the rollout of the refreshed identity through presentations, meetings, and phased design decks. I created and advised on an image library by developing a curated bank of visual assets. Developed a comprehensive wayfinding plan for Coda’s existing and new facilities, including maps, signage proposals, measurements, and installation guidance across creative health, learning, workshop, rehearsal, and exhibition spaces, as well as signage for the new development.

Process

Process
The project began with phase one, where I took the existing brand logo and performed small color tweaks to the pink and blue gradient so it would flow perfectly across the paddle surfaces. Following this, I managed the development of the various paddle series through frequent client meetings and constant collaboration over the space of a month.
This phase involved exploring several initial design concepts before we ultimately drew it back to basics, deciding that a clean application of the logo with intertwined custom typography provided the most professional look. Once this direction was set, I handled the technical details, including the deep Slate Charcoal finish for the longer "Stretch" paddle and the precise application of "CRLN" (Cerulean) branding for the various models.
Solution
Delivering a final wayfinding guidance and updating marketing materials helped Coda during a busy period of organisational change, providing clarity and direction for future development at Coda Music and Arts Trust. Advising on design direction and working collaboratively helped them envision change and explore potential approaches for the new development. The wayfinding plan acted as guidance for navigation and spatial planning, while updated marketing materials reflected the refreshed brand identity. The visual direction used Coda’s brand colours and values, drawing on its natural surroundings and creative practice to support consistency, clarity, and accessibility across communications and spaces.
